Board of Directors
Dave joined SJE-Rhombus as President in December of 2011 and stepped into the CEO role in December of 2012. His previous experience includes US and Europe-based executive, general management and marketing roles with a number of global enterprises in public, private and private equity-backed environments. He holds a BS degree in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota, an MBA in Marketing from the University of St. Thomas, and a MS in Finance from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT.
Lenny has over 30 years of experience in finance, currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of East View Information Services, a leading provider of native and translated foreign language information products and services. He began his career in 1982 as an accountant with Arthur Andersen & Company. From 1989 through 1996, Lenny served in several accounting and finance management positions at PepsiCo, Inc. Lenny then joined Border Foods, Inc. as their Chief Financial Officer to oversee finances for the large multi-restaurant franchisee of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Camillet Foods, a franchisee of three casual restaurants.
Lenny is a board advisor for multiple companies, including Kona Grill, a publicly traded restaurant company operating 27 restaurants in 17 states, where he serves as the Audit Committee Chairman and a member of the Compensation Committee. Lenny joined the SJE-Rhombus Board of Directors in 2014.
Jennifer Mrozek is the CFO of Marco, a technology services company with over 1,000 employees and 48 locations throughout the Upper Midwest.
After graduating from St. Cloud State University with a BS in Accounting, Jennifer worked as an auditor at a regional accounting firm and then joined Marco in 1998. She quickly worked her way to become Marco’s CFO in 2003. Jennifer has led the company through 27 acquisitions since 2005.
Chuck received an accounting degree from the University of North Dakota, and worked for three years as a CPA with Charles Bailly & Co. Chuck started Crary Company with his cousin in December 1979. In February 1999, Crary Company was sold to KRG Capital. After the sale, Chuck managed Crary Industries and its subsidiaries until 2007, when he stepped down as President and became Chairman of the Board. In January 2008, he purchased J5 Oil & Transport Co., a regional trucking company hauling petroleum products. Chuck as served on the FM Chamber of Commerce, local and regional economic development boards, Dakota MEP, and on various church and civic organizations. Chuck has served as an SJE-Rhombus Board Director since 2009.
Chuck has been married to Bethann for 23 years and they have two daughters in college. Chuck's interests include spending time with his family, traveling, learning, business and faith.
Michael (Mike) Maloney
Mike is a graduate of Moorhead State University (MSU - now MSUM) and has 43 years of purchasing, manufacturing and sales management experience for a national/multi-factory metal products manufacture, Standex ADP (a division of Standex International) where he was VP of Sales and Marketing. Prior to his retirement, Mike moved to Philadelphia for 3 years to assist with a corporate restructure.
Mike is a member of the SADP Executive Council and has served on the Detroit Lakes Development Authority for 10 years. He was also a member of the National Air Movement Council. Mike was elected as an Advisory Board member for SJE-Rhombus in 2010. Mike has been married to Ilene for 44 years and they have three children and three grandchildren.
Dr. Arlen Kangas
Arlen served for two years as MMCDC's business loan officer, prior to assuming the role as President in 1988. Under his leadership, the company's asset base has grown from $2 million to over $129 million, not including investments in tax credit partnerships, which adds an additional $290 million to that total. During the same period, the company's revenues increased from less than $500,000 to more than $12 million. MMCDC is a diversified non-profit company that owns and operates several subsidiary companies, including commercial lending, subdivision development, housing construction and more.
Dr. Kangas received his Bachelor's degree form Bemidji State University and his Masters and Ph. D. in Economics from Washington State University. Arlen previous served on the SJE-Rhombus Board of Directors from 1998-2003.
Laurie held several leadership positions during her 31-year career at SJE-Rhombus, including Chief Executive officer for 14 years prior to retiring in 2012. As CEO, she was responsible for determining company strategy and vision, aligning the company internally and externally with the strategic vision and guiding the success of the company.
